VRWC Results - Summer Season 2025/2026

The Summer Season occurs between October and March and
coincides with the long hot Australian summer. The emphasis in on track
walking and most races are over the shorter track distances. There is
also a strong walking presence in the 'Interclub' Track Competition
with all Athletics Teams fielding walkers in their regular competitions.
For this reason, VRWC only holds a small number of events during this period.
VRWC ROADWALKS, MIDDLE PARK, SUNDAY 18 JANUARY 2026
With our
top walkers on camp at either the AIS in Canberra or at Perisher Valley
in the NSW Alps, it was a small group of only 23 walkers who joined us
for our first walk of the 2026 year at Middle Park. It was a hot
morning with still conditions so all competitors raised a good sweat
and had to work hard. Special mentions to Jai Wen Heng (just outside her 10km PB), Lily Lambert (5km PB) and Abigail Verity (first 2km walk). Welcome also to Mentone walker Marina Carpinelli who had her first race with the club.

our last walk for the summer. Competition will return to Middle Park in
late April when our winter season kicks off.VRWC ROADWALKS, MIDDLE PARK, SUNDAY 7 DECEMBER 2025
Excellent

VRWC summer season on Sunday. Some of our top internationals took the

The
Australian All-Schools T&F Championships were being held over the
same weekend in Melbourne, so we welcomed interstate walkers Koby Irvine, Noah Cooke, Phoebe Chadwick and Eliza Kelly from Queensland and Eva Parker from Tasmania. The best performances were in the 10km event, where 14 year old Angus Shuttleworth
recorded 49:40 in his first attempt at the distance and 15 year old
Koby Irvine recorded a big PB of 49:51. Special mentions to Jade Chitty (10km PB), Eliza Kelly (first 10km) and Steven Stern (5km PB). And we welcomed Katherine Choo for her first walk with us.

The
VRWC Summer Championships were held at Middle Park on Sunday morning,
with 38 walkers in attendance. Conditions were excellent - cool and
still - and there were lots of great contests. We were excited to see a
number of our top internationals have a training hitout in the 20km
club championships - Dylan Richardson, Rhydian Cowley, Declan Tingay, Rebecca Henderson and Jimima Montag
all showed us what top walking looks like! Overall the club
championship wins went to Dylan and Rebecca, with the others content to
stroll around together a little behind.
